For those new to our dental practice it may seem unusual to be scheduled for a 60 minute visit with the doctor and hygienist. Many new patients often tell us that they have never experienced a more thorough and complete oral health examination. The doctor not only checks for decay and secondary decay around fillings and the tooth roots, but the doctor examines the soft tissue as well. Detecting gum disease early is important in preventing the loss of bone and supporting tissues and eventually your teeth. The doctor will also perform an oral cancer exam, screening for pre-cancerous changes every time you visit. This exam involves your head, neck, glands, and oral tissues.
Next the doctor and hygienist assess your overall general health as it can affect or be affected by your oral health. We know you will be impressed by the comprehensive exam on your first visit. A “cleaning” may be accomplished at a subsequent visit due to the focus of this thorough exam, your oral condition, as well as your wants and needs. We believe you are worth this scheduled time with the doctor and the investment in a lifetime of dental health. We look forward to seeing you on your first visit.
